Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Today starts the Chinese New Year. Here's a neat little video on the history of the celebration- http://link.history.com/services/link/bcpid1681694254/bclid1683773460/bctid1407951200

Saturday we enjoyed a family dinner at mom's in Oregon City. There was good food and an enjoyable evening. We also celebrated Dillon's birthday and Steve/Kelda Rice's 6th year anniversary.

Today when the kids get home from school, they'll be thrilled to be greeted with 'lai see', red envelopes of money. They've already received a few from family.

No school....MLKJ day!

The kids weren't too happy to have a day off from school, only to have to work in the garage. Yes, we had to put all the Christmas stuff up in the attic and clean out the garage of all the clutter. You couldn't even walk through without nearly killing yourself. It was bad. I had hopes and dreams of being able to park my car in the garage, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. David/Dillon have other plans for the garage.

But all was not lost because after an early dinner both kids got to bake something of their choice, for fun. Victoria made these lucious chocolate cupcakes and Dillon made a lemon pudding cake. It's really hard for me to hold back and let them do it all by themselves. They sure love cooking/baking! :)

We have a new addition!

I never thought I’d see the day where I would be a cat owner. Yes, we went to the Humane Society on Sat, “just to look”, and mainly at dogs. But then the kids got to looking at the cats, and were instantly in love! Before we left Downey, there was a baby stray cat that we took in for a few weeks in the end there. Victoria loved it. Also, Dillon is allergic to cats, so we let him play with the one we were interested in to see if he had any allergic reaction. We told the kids we would go home talk it over and make a decision the next day. We pretty much talked through everything and the kids’ responsibilities and everyone was in agreement (for now), so we went for it. He’s a tuxedo looking, black and white cat. He’s not quite a year old and is very good with kids. We tested that out really well when Victoria held it every which way and it didn’t mind. So, here we are…done w/ the baby thing and onto pets! I’m very nervous and have NEVER liked cats. And to think, I’m stuck here at home all day, by myself, with this feline…egads! He is a sweet cat and everyone else is already in love with him. There was a fight, and maybe still is on what to name him. Victoria wants to name him Licorice. Dillon wants to name him Niger…LOL. Yes, he’s David’s child indeed! So, as of last night, each was calling him their own name for him…poor cat!

Anyway…pray for me!!!
